NO, not a grand puppy! The big collie in our Christmas picture is Duffy, he belongs to our friends Pam and Gary! They had us over for a wonderful brunch on Christmas Eve! Delicious Quiche Lorraine, Pam! Kathy
We are Grant and Kathy Webb, welcome to our website! With careful planning we retired in our mid-50s on January 1, 2008 so, that we could explore the parks, monuments and wildlife refuges of North America. This blog is intended to keep family, friends and anyone else interested up to date with where we are and what we are doing. This will not be a daily diary; we will update as time and Internet connections permit.
Our hobbies are bird watching and astronomy so, if you know of a great birding spot or dark sky site in an area we are visiting please let us know.

Photo Equipment
The question comes up from time to time asking what photo equipment we use. So here is the answer.
I use a Panasonic DMC-FZ28K that I got this past May. It doesn’t change lenses. Kathy uses a Canon Rebel EOS that she has had for a few years. She has both a wide angle zoom 18mm to 55mm and a telephoto zoom 70 to 300mm for it.
I think with Nature and Landscape photography 80% of it is just being at the right place at the right time. The lighting changes moment by moment, clouds come and go, shadows move and grow, the wild animals wander around and do whatever they feel like. In any national park you can drive the same roads, walk the same trails day after day and hour after hour and the scene is always different than it was the past.
